So What Is Pickleball?
The sport of Pickleball originated in the USA about 50 years ago and landed in Charlton Adam in 2018, when the Giraffe House Pickleball Club formed. Pickleball is a racket and ball sport played over a low net, on a badminton court. It is suitable for (almost) all ages, but is most popular in the over-50's and it is said to be the fastest growing sport in the world (unverified). It is certainly great fun! At Charlton Adam, Club membership has grown steadily to almost 70 members, testament to an entertaining pastime with fitness benefits.
New members are taught the game in a structured way before joining mainstream sessions, but priority is given to local residents, and there may be a waiting list. |

The Charltons Tennis Club
We are very fortunate to have a tennis court in the Memorial Field.
It costs just £30.00 per annum (June 1st – May 31st) to be a member of the club. This gives all your family the use of the court throughout the year. We do not charge children or young people under the age of 18 yrs but do ask a parent to sign a form on their behalf giving permission for them to play and taking responsibility for them. Rackets and balls are in a store box on the court for their use. We have monthly coaching sessions which costs £6.00 for an hour and is booked through Dee (details below) If you are interested in having the use of this court please contact Dee Powell either by text or email: Court bookings are also made via Dee |
