Fire (Emergency Plan)

In the event of a fire, the person in charge of the hall or function will :-

  • Take command- give loud and clear instructions to immediately evacuate the building using the nearest available exit and assemble on the field outside the hall. If helpful use the hand bell to attract attention. Call the Fire Brigade, dial 999 and give this address:-

The Charltons Community Hall, Top Road, Charlton Adam TA11 7BE

  • Check every room that it is safe to enter to ensure that everyone has left the hall.
  • Fire extinguishers should only be used to clear a safe passage to an exit.
  • Once outside check that everyone is accounted for.
  • Check that Top Road and the area around the hall is clear for emergency vehicles.
  • Send guides for the emergency services – one at the bottom of Collins Lane and one at the entrance to Station Road from Ilchester Road.
  • On arrival of the Fire Brigade, the person in charge of the hall should report to the officer in charge that all persons are safe, or should inform him/her of their last known position.
  • Contact a member of the hall committee on one of the numbers shown:
